我愛死了Chris在這個訪問中對Kurt角色如何型塑的回應：

I think honestly the way I kind of created him was very selfishly. Because there was such a taboo about actors playing gay characters in Hollywood, and I was very young when I got cast, and I - I was terrified that all the taboos would affect me. So I didn’t want to play him like any other gay character that I had seen. And I know it’s really easy for people to kind of stereotype him, here and there, but I think if you really look at him he is different, because I think he’s very internal and subdued, where gay characters can be very over-the-top, and obnoxious even, sometimes. And, I thought about people that - who would he want to - who would he identify with? And whose personality traits would he try to embody, and be. And my first instinct was, well, Anna Wintour, you know? Or Miranda Priestley - Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada. Or Victoria Beckham. I’m like, oh, well that’s who he’d probably want to - to look up to, so that’s kind of how I established like, how he stood, the way he spoke, and - and just the way he was.

因為真的很喜歡這一段所以翻譯如下：

老實說在「創造」Kurt這個角色上我帶有私心，因為在好萊塢，演員飾演同性戀角色仍被視為一種禁忌。而當我甄選上Kurt這個角色時，我還很年輕，並且害怕那些禁忌會影響我，所以我不希望以其他我看過的同性戀角色的表現方式去扮演他。

並且我知道人們很容易將這個角色帶入某種刻板印象，但是我認為，如果你深入了解這個角色，你會發現他的不同：Kurt是個內化且壓抑的角色，相較於某些同性戀角色太過浮誇、甚至有時到讓人厭煩的程度。

此外我也思考哪些人物是Kurt認同的？哪些人物的人格特質是Kurt試著去體現的？我的直覺是Anna Wintour（Vogue主編，＜穿著Parada的惡魔＞電影所影射的人）、或Miranda Priestley──也就是Meryl Streep在＜穿著Parada的惡魔＞中飾演的角色、還有Victoria Beckham，我想這些大概是Kurt敬仰的人們，我以此為藍本建立起Kurt站立的方式、說話的方式、還有他這個人物。
